Preparing for surgery

Aspen, our 5-year-old Great Dane, has been diagnosed with bone cancer in one of her front legs (osteosarcoma). While we had hoped to move forward with a limb-sparing procedure, our surgical oncologist is very hesitant to recommend that after looking at Aspen’s CT scans.

We will be moving forward with amputation surgery very soon, and right now we are terrified.

  2. Sorry you find yourself here, but, under the circumstances there is no better place to be for support and information. And yes, for understanding too! We understand how scary this is and how uncertain you feel about the whole process. We also understand j6ow good Aspen will feel with that pajnful leg gone!!!

While limb sparing is something that can work SOMETIMES, even then it can have lots of risks down the road, infections, etc.

Apoloi6se for short reply (connection issues), but just want you to know we are all eight bynyour side the whole way, okay? And we have MANY Great Danes who handle life on three legs like a Champ!! In fact, we have a blogger who just joined and their 5 yr old Great Dane is having surgery Tuesday!

We alao have a helpline 1 844 TRIPAWD to help answer any questions you may have.

Hang onto us, okay? We’ll get you through this…and Aspen will get through this too! Now, recovery is no picnic, but we will be here to help you navigate through it…..and help you to know it doesn’t last forever!!
